Subject: RE: UK old time/clogging - Matlock April 2-4 From: BanjoRay Date: 31 Mar 04 - 05:05 PM Luxury - hah! I don't think you're allowed to go to bed till the sessions finish if you're indoor camping - that's why I'm in a tent. Or maybe it's because I'm a boring old fart. Cheers Ray |

Subject: UK old time/clogging - Matlock April 2-4 From: nickp Date: 29 Mar 04 - 07:38 AM Matlock Festival - the return! Yes, the long awaited return of the Matlock Footloose Festival - now retitled Loose Roots and with a smattering of European music and dance but still mainly geared up towards old time music and clogging. Taking place THIS COMING WEEKEND!!!! April 2nd to 4th at Highfields School, Matlock, Derbyshire. Yes, the same venue, the same weekend-long old time sessions in the bar (and probably the same beer!). Featuring: Beverly Smith and Carl Jones from the USA, multi-instrumentalists and multi-talented old time and early-country music performers. They will be giving workshops in fiddle, guitar accompaniment and song. Malke Rosenfeld from the USA as the dancers' top-bill. Previously a member of Eileen Carson's Footwoks, Malke is giving workshops in Advanced Appalachian and Cape Breton percussive dance. The Buffalo Gals, led by Kate Lissauer, who will be playing for a square dance Friday and the concert on Saturday which will also feature Beverly and Carl plus Doc Proctors's Anecdote. Kate and Johnny Whelan will also be giving fiddle and banjo workshops respectively. More clogging support for Sue Torres and Simon & Jo Harmer plus Kerry Fletcher on Dance Routines, with a Dance Showcase from youth clogging team Metallo Bocca. There'll also be Euro Dance and Swedish dancing featured if you want to stretch your music or dance tastes. Other guests include Hannah James & Kerfuffle, Chouchenn, One Foot In The Gutter, Geoff Beilby & Steve Ellis, North Cregg and Scratch. Various ticket options and also indoor camping if you book ahead. More details Lets help bring the festival back to it's position as one of the leading festivals for old time music and percussive dance. See you there...... |
