Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Women & Men From: GUEST,JTT Date: 03 Apr 04 - 06:41 AM There's a million threads on the quoted link, so I'll just ask this question and maybe if it's the right one you'd find it on the Digitrad: is it this one: Oh they say that the women are worse than the men Rifle, rifle, tiddy-fie day For one went down to hell and was sent back again With a rifle-eh, tiddy-fie day, rifle, rifle, tiddy-fie day... |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Women & Men From: GUEST,Philippa Date: 03 Apr 04 - 04:17 AM I mostly know this song as "Killyburn Braes" entries for this popular song. Note the useful contribution from Malcolm Douglas (if I remember correctly) at the Devil and the Plough thread. Jean Ritchie had a nice version where she whistles as well as singing. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Women & Men From: Jim Dixon Date: 02 Apr 04 - 10:19 PM Some versions of THE DEVIL AND THE FARMER'S WIFE end with a verse that goes: Now that shows that the women are worse than the men. They can go down to Hell and come back again. Follow the link to one version; then that page links to other versions. |
