Hi - its nice of you to reply and it was only seems like yesterday that this song was being sung. For whatever reason my aunties loved it and it was one of many they used to sing. They have both unfortunately passed away but the memories live on. I never thought I would find the words to this song let alone somebody else who liked it.

Thank you again for replying, best wishes and keep safe.

Trish

Thanks for that tip, Trish. Looks like the song is formally titled "There's a Lonely Little Shack Amongst the Pine Trees." The only place I've seen much about it online is here: https://www.sheetmusicwarehouse.co.uk/20th-century-songs-t/theres-a-lonely-little-shack-amongst-the-pine-trees/

Here's the refrain:
"There's a lonely little shack amongst the pine trees,
And a mother is waiting there,
Ev'ry morning, ev'ry night, she'll pray,
For the one she thinks is going astray.
But I'm packing my bag to-morrow,
And I'm going amongst the scent of pine,
I'll take the sunshine back, to that lonesome shack,
And that dear little mother of mine."

Hello - I know that song - my two aunties used to sing it to me. It was written in 1925 by Will Topham and published by Wharfedale Music Publishing Co., !4 Wells Promenade, Ilkley, Yorkshire, England.

I hope this helps, it brought a tear to my eye when I found it as we never knew the last line.

Trish

BMI lists a song called LONESOME SHACK written by Cyril D. Roberts Jr.

A compilation album of doo-wop songs called Follow Me to the Popcorn, Vol. 2 includes LONESOME SHACK performed by Ernie Washington. This song is attributed to someone named Roberts. (I suppose "popcorn" means corny pop songs?)

Fiddler Suzy Thompson recorded something called LONESOME SHACK on her album "No Mockingbird," Native and Fine Records 906-7 – but I don't know if that version has words.

Memphis Minnie recorded LONESOME SHACK BLUES in 1940.

But maybe none of these is what you're looking for.

Is there anyone out there who can oblige me with the lyrics for a song which. I believe is called "Lonesome Shack".    It starts :-
There's a lonesome little shack amongst the pine trees
And a mother is waiting there, every morning every night she prays .............

I first heard it more than 60 years ago and have never heard it since
