Ed planned that -- I've met him. PRIVATE litter box?!? Fer gawd's sake don't tell my crew that!

Charley -- Hell's Pavement is DEFINITELY a keeper! Grand song -- I'm going to steal it as soon as possible. Whenever I have a brain back.

Jan has a lovely, early-Joni Mitchell voice and some interesting arrangement.

Wish I could have stuck around, but had to get back to Tom -- and really realized on the way back how tired I was. Gravity got turned way up.

I spent the day tending to a sick cat who pretended to be dying until we walked into the emergency clinic. Ed is now comfortably housed in my bedroom eating baby food and sleeping on the pillows. We are awaiting a bowel movement in his private litter box. Nothing is simple these days. I swear he was unable to get up or lie down when I put him in the carrier and he didn't fight me - a sure sign of a problem. He farted in the car and nearly killed me then acted fine. SIGH!

Linn-

After you left we continued singing for another hour or so, procrastinating with round after round as participants attempted to flee. Nor and I wound everything up shortly after 7 pm.

I really enjoyed hearing Nan sing, and Tyler backing her up on some imprompto Scottish "mouth music." Not at all nautical but really fun to listen to.

I was also pleased with the reception to my music hall arrangement of the John Masefield poem "Hell's Pavement." It's clearly a keeper, and may find its way onto Roll & Go's forthcoming recording ROLLING DOWN TO SAILORTOWN.

I always enjoy singing with Nor and I hope to persuade other members of Roll & Go to attend the next gathering in May. However, they're about as easy to herd as a bunch of kittens!

Best to Tom, and I hope someone can figure out how to get our portable MP3/CD survival kit operational. When in doubt, read the directions or draft a 10-year old.

Sorry to have extricated myself from the session so abruptly after I fed my face (and sang a coupla more songs), but I was running waaay behind schedule for getting back to the hospital.

Some really, really nice singing today -- Nor, you're sounding better all the time. Wish I had brought the tape recorder and taped that round. My brain is currently not able to retrieve the tune -- I hope it will pop up spontaneously when I least expect it.

For anyone else who checks in on this thread, here's the greeting Tom sent along to the "crew" -- "I'd rather be snug in a Deptford pub / a drinking of strong beer." (He'd really, really like a nice Guinness right now.)

So, did Bruce sing all my songs after I left? -- No, he was leaving soon after, too, so he prolly didn't have time.    ;-)

Barry! I've still got a Bob Nilson drawing for you.

Charley -- Tom will definitely enjoy the use of the MP3 player and new sea music listening fodder. Thanks again.

Linn

Wow, the cat came back! I bes' refresh this thread before it goes down again.

Jeff won't be coming down with Nor and me this time around. He claims he has too much homework!

Who else is coming for sure?

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

You (and 'mudge) have the best I can generate Linn, you read him the bit about" groups of 3 or more will be fired on by the Militia" (the Riot Act) and tell him I said to take it easy and get well, we are thinking good and healing thoughts at him .

Well -- let me first state that this Saturday's sea music sing is ON.

That said, there's been a bit of a snag -- Curmudgeon is in the hospital.

He's been in less than optimal health lately, and had an echo cardiogram scheduled for this morning -- after which he planned to go to work.

Well, they didn't like the looks of the echo, did a regular EKG, etc. and said, "Uh uh, you're not going anyplace; you're staying right here." So he was admitted to Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover, NH (Room 336B).

Don't have all the info yet -- he's having a right & left heart catheterization tomorrow morning. Then they'll have a better idea as to what the next move is. Cardiologist suggested a valve replacement and by-pass may be in his future.

Yeah -- I'm scared silly. But I probably am worrying, if not less, than differently than I have been for several months. At least his problems are being addressed and he's in good hands.

I left him about an hour ago -- I'll talk to him tonight and see him again tomorrow. Barring an emergency, I'll be at the singaround Saturday.

All the good energy and white light sent in his direction will be greatly appreciated.

I hope to see Barry Finn, too -- hey, Barry! I've got a Bob Nilson drawing for you of us on stage at The Press Room St. Patrick's night. I don't actually remember us all linking arms and dancing, but that's what Bob drew.

Anywho, I'll try to remember to bring it along.

Linn-

I'll be rolling down from Maine with Nor and Jeff from Roll & Go. Jeff is our new apprentice, learning the ropes (and the lines) so to speak. We probably won't be able to get him to lead anything yet but he has a fine voice and it's a real joy to hear him improvise on the guitar.

I do hope we see Barry Finn this time around, and it's about time that Jeff Warner got over his spring cold and joined the jovial crew.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Ayuh -- that time again.

April Sea Music Session at The Press Room, Portsmouth, NH (USA)
Saturday, April 17 -- 3:30 to 7:30 pm

It looks like it's going to stop raining, warm weather is is the offing and the S-word is nowhere in the forecast (except for extreme northern part of the state -- sigh).

Well, we've all survived March without being O'Carolaned and Danny Boyed to death. Charley says he has a new song, Kendall's out of the country (what he won't do for an excuse!), Sinsull -- are you going to be around? Brien, you can't work ALL the time! Last I heard, Tyler Buck was coming with a singing friend.

I, for one, really need the R&R of a good shanty sing! Hope to see you all and more on Saturday!

Linn
