G'day all,

I have just refreshed a thread that I started on 27 August this year - looking for American gold rush songs that could be included in friend's primary school show on Australian history.

He recently came across another song that had a useful US goldrush link: Goodbye Mrs. Durkin which includes
"I'm off to California ....
... Instead of pulling praties, I'll be picking up lumps of gold.

Gargoyle: Thanks for the offer of politically incorrect songs! Every Old Put song has a verse about Mormons and a verse about diarrhea, etc. This is for a program at the Gene Autry Museum so it has to be fairly sanitized. The nice thing about GOld Rush songs is that they have so many verses--even after throwing out the politically incorrect verses and the naughty ones there are still plenty left. fzjones

I have a plethora of politically incorrect songs that are "just right" for singing. (If they were OK for a 1800's California Gold Camp - they are GREAT for a live audience

Perhaps, one is a match for what you desire.

Found a bunch of verses to "Kansas Boys" in "Songs of the American West" but most are too politcally incorrect to sing to a group.
