Subject: RE: New Forum Features Online to Test From: Big Mick Date: 16 Oct 98 - 09:10 AM Not a chance, you black hearted brigand. I have been slaving laboriously to comprehend this and I believe I have it pegged. I can't wait to have a go at it, and have real live conversation with alison. All the best, Mick |

Subject: RE: New Forum Features Online to Test From: alison Date: 16 Oct 98 - 01:49 AM Hi, I've just had a great on line chat with Joe.... (sorry Mick I did try last night but you weren't responding)... ICQ (see Joe's link) is a great little chat line and really easy to use, you can select who you want to talk to and will be able to see when they are online. Just like the good old days in the chat room.... when it was running...... Definately worth a try. Slainte alison |

Subject: RE: New Forum Features Online to Test From: Alan of Australia Date: 15 Oct 98 - 10:17 PM G'day, I LIKE IT! The only problem is getting used to the backwards date convention. Day/month/year (smallest to largest) seems much more logical!

Subject: RE: New Forum Features Online to Test From: Joe Offer Date: 15 Oct 98 - 09:11 PM Well, I thought the 'uh-oh' sound was Mudcat - turns out it was Alison paging me to chat on ICQ. Hmmmm. Might be an idea to encourage Mudcatteers to get onto ICQ if they want to chat. It's really slick. Too bad Mick won't be able to figure it out.....maybe I'll have Alison to myself again. -Joe- |

Subject: RE: New Forum Features Online to Test From: Joe Offer Date: 15 Oct 98 - 08:37 PM Hmmmm....I think I heard somebody say uh-oh when I switched over to the new features. Did I do something wrong? Is somebody looking over my shoulder? Clever, Max - - - and I like the useful features, too. -Joe Offer- |

Subject: New Forum Features Online to Test From: Max Date: 15 Oct 98 - 05:25 PM The other day I realized that the forum was more than 2 years old. The first message was posted just about 45 seconds after midnight on October 1st, 1996. Knowing that the AGE dropdown only went to a year and took forever to come up (if at all) at that, I have integrated a date range filter to the threads so you can get "a day or week or month or any range" in the life of the forum. I know there is plenty of wonderful things in last years activity as well. So anyway, I have it up at http://www.mudcat.org/newthreads.cfm for you adventurous types to try out and see if there is any bugs or anything. You will also see that the DATE fields are clickable. This will show you all the messages posted on that day. Keep in mind that the larger your date range, the longer it will take to process and load. If you specify no range, it will show you about the last days worth of messages. If you specify only the start range, it will show you everything from that date till now. This is all in effort to make the over 40,000 messages in the forum more managable. Let me know what you think. |
