We told them that El Grek's favourite pudding is Lemon Zorba and his breakfast had to be bouzouki on toast. He will be reassured to find that the bathroom is solid Elgin marble.
Home from home George!

I used to serenade people. I am on (police) record for serenading Papadopoulos (the leader of the Colonels' Junta) in 1970 outside the (then) Presidential Summer Palace with songs like "Yesterday". The police confiscated my guitar and I had to go with my father to pick it up the next day (I was under-aged). Dad had a good laugh.
Later I took to serenading girlfriends. My wife put a stop to that though...

Indeed. They are part of the Market Rasen Development Committee and are doing a great job helping regenerate Market Rasen. Very nice people.

I wonder if I told them that El greko plays the mandolin and likes singing below people's windows to serenade them :-)

We didn't. I don't know why they expected El Grek to - maybe it's something to do with being Greek.

They know all about the club, in fact they seem to know just about everybody and everything that's going on in Market Rasen.

Does that mean that you serenaded them also? Sounds like a precedent has been set.
That is useful feedback Anahata and Mary. Thanks for that.

B&B - top notch. Mary's thinking of using it as a base if she needs to stay overnight while working in North Lincolnshire. We've told them about George and they're expecting to be serenaded at breakfast time!

How was the bed and breakfast place Mary and Anahata? I am sure El Greko would like to know, as he will be there.

So you did, and excellent it was too!
And Lucy and Paul - StAlbans spotlight is in for a treat there.
In fact it was a very enjoyable evening all round. Thanks to Les for making us welcome and introducing us to just about everybody else there!

An unexpected bonus for us was that two friends of ours turned up out of the blue, just to hear us! I knew they lived somewhere local - we'll be staying with them next time...
We're looking forward to our gig there next April.

Anahata

Well I was wearing a leather two-piece, with a peep-hole bra (naughty but very very nice)complete with attachments, and Colin was wearing a very fetching tutu with matching ballet shoes (size 11...very difficult to find!!). Lucy unfortunately did not reveal the famous belly piercing!

What an excellent night tonight. It's 1:12 in the morning, but I decided that I coudn't go to bed without thanking everybody who performed tonight. I loved it. If nobody else did then they are bonkers.
I am not going to single anybody out as everybody was very good and made a complete team.
Oh the joys of running a folk club. :-)

Off to sleep now zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Well I think this coming Friday will be an evening of quality and quantity. Plenty of quality songs with a good quantity of varied singers.
Those attending should have a very enjoyable evening.

I agree with you there John. They are developing very nicely.

They are also appearing at the Filey Festival - 2 X 30 minute floorspots and several singaounds. That should be a nice for them.

Karen and Colin Thompson are also on there.

Someone always has to be awkward Les, it's a Mudcat thang!

Lucy and Paul are two of the most naturally-talented performers I've had the pleasure of hearing for a long time. Their age isn't a factor, they're not 'good for 19-year-olds', they're good, period. They've blossomed over the past year, their performances rate alongside any I've heard from other local performers, amateur or semi-pro, and they have the benefit of time on their side which some of the 'old crows' don't have. All they need is to gather experience, and thanks to clubs like Gainsborough, MR, The Spotlight at St. Albans, et al, they're doing just that.

And they look good (which isn't something you can say about all local artists - some of us would lose a ring in our belly-buttons!!) :0) (LMAO)

Leadfinger thanks for the nice comment. I meant to add that Lucy and Paul are the young singers spotlight. I think I can say that with confidence as they are only 19.

Oh wouldn't it be nice to be 19 again. :-)
