Subject: RE: anything in Liverpool? From: GUEST,Guest Ian Date: 02 Aug 04 - 02:39 PM I'll start again, this mudcat thing doesn't like you hitting the wrong button. Nor does it like idiots!!! Lots of good singers clubs in and around Liverpool. Monday - Prospect in Runcorn, Tuesday - Maghull Folk Club (North Merseyside) and The Everyman club in Liverpool, Wednesday - Bridge Folk Club Bromborough, Sunday - Wooden Horse at Rainford Junction and The Bothy in Southport to name but a few. Folk Orbit is good as another entry has sugested. There may also be a workshop session somewhere teaching how to get a tune out of a quartet of hubcaps, tunings a bit of a bugger though!!! Sorry Jim Ian |

Subject: RE: anything in Liverpool? From: Matthew Edwards Date: 02 Aug 04 - 05:55 AM Hi Mariner, There isn't that much in Birkenhead itself these days, but there are several clubs around Wirral and in Liverpool: look in the Folk Orbit website under Local venues. The listings are by the historic counties, by the way. There are some occasional folk concerts at the Pacific Road Arts Centre in Birkenhead (including an appearance by Martin Simpson on 8 Oct 2004), and, if you are still around then, the Liverpool Irish Festival takes place from 21st to 31st October 2004. |
Subject: anything in Liverpool? From: MARINER Date: 31 Jul 04 - 04:31 PM I expect to be in the Liverpool area towards the end of September/ early October. Is there anything "folkie" happening there around that time? It's many years since I used to drydock in Birkenhead and I'm completely out of touch with what's what in the 'Pool, so I would also like to know of any folk clubs in the area. The last time Iwas in a Liverpool folk club it was in Birkenhead and was called "The Red Arrow Folk Club". Anyone remember it? Or was it just part of my Threlfalls fueled imagination? |
