Well I've always liked riding a motorbike, but I can see the point of not riding them through Dovedale, real rights of way enthusiast.

When will the peak district, the national parks, and the ramblers learn that a right of way is a right of way, and that a vehicular right of way is also a right of way worth preserving as

(a) a significant right and liberty of an englishman or welshman (scottish law on this is different) and

(b) formative of the distinct ecology of the minor highway?

Alun Michael will apparently not be attending the Peak District rally, as the Police reckon that his presence will tempt the pro-Hunt lobby to demonstrate, and rather spoil the event for others.

Of course you can just make sure your dogs on a lead and if its likely to bite that it has its muzzle on just like everyone else has to do.
Now thats a thought instead of all this anti hunting mularky why not muzzle foxhounds that way the dogs can have their run the horses and riders can trample to their hearts delight and the fox gets a good day out as well

Sunday 19 September - Open access in the Peak District begins
BY INVITATION ONLY - The Peak District National Park Authority are hosting the national launch of the new rights to walk on wild land. The event is to be held at Derbyshire Bridge, Goyt Valley with the Rt Hon Alun Michael, Minister of State for Rural Affairs and invited guests.

The size and significance of the launch event will mean a temporary ban for cars in the vicinity over weekend of 18-19 September – but walkers will not lose out as a free park-and-ride scheme will be available. Derbyshire Bridge car park will be closed on September 18-19, and parts of Derbyshire Bridge Road and Goyt Lane will be closed on September 19, 10am to 6pm. On September 19 a courtesy bus service will run, 10.30am to 6pm, from Grin Low Country Park car park (Grin Low Road, off the A53 Buxton to Leek road) to Derbyshire Bridge, and motorists will still be able to use the nearby Street car park near Errwood reservoir.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but we would ask the public to bear with us for a short time while we make preparations and while the event takes place as this is a nationally important event.

Just seen mention of Ewan McColl in another thread: A href="http://www.mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=73432&messages=2">4th Annual McColl event. It reminded me that the Peak District National Park is organising a gathering and ramble in the Goyt Valley this coming Sunday afternoon (September 19) to celebrate the fact that the Right to Roam Act, passed way back in 2000, is now starting to come into effect region by region.
