Subject: RE: Dobro strings From: Grab Date: 06 Oct 04 - 08:34 AM I'll second Newtones - very good strings. On my Regal, I've previously used 13s of other strings. I've just restrung with Newtones 12s (just because I had them) and they seem a bit too light, so for me, 13s seem to be the best for resonator. I did try some Thomastiks on it once and they sounded awesome, but they're too expensive to use regularly. Graham. |

Subject: RE: Dobro strings From: mooman Date: 06 Oct 04 - 04:05 AM I play with a normal action and like a normal guitar for mainly blues (just a bit of slide now and again). Light gauge phosphor bronze (Newtones in my case) seem to sound great on my Regal. BTW, Newtone make sets for resonator in various gauges. Peace moo |

Subject: RE: Dobro strings From: s&r Date: 06 Oct 04 - 02:48 AM If you play slide with a high action - heavy strings (flat wound or ground wound make less slide noise) if you play it like a normal guitar, use the strings you prefer for normal playing. Stu |

Subject: Dobro strings From: Matt_R Date: 06 Oct 04 - 02:41 AM OK, I'm getting ready to change the strings on my resonator guitar. What kind are the best to use? Are light gage strings ok to use? Or does a resonator demand heavy bronze strings? |
