Nerd, there is the verse in Great Grandad in a Lomax version. He had 21 sons-

They grew strong in heart and hand,
Firm foundation of our land.
Twenty-one boys and a great-grandson,
He had a terrible time with that one.

Scott

Okay, we got it, your great granddad wrote all the important songs.

Geez, how many threads are you going to revive and start just to make this claim?

And why do you consistently ignore the people who quite rightly point out that he didn't write them any more than any of the other folksingers who sang them back then?

Scott,

I did a google search intending to post the results on the Nine pound hammer thread, but someone else got to before me. I know this is likely a silly, question, but you have done the google thing, right?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone ever heard of my great grandfather Charlie Bowman. He was a memeber of The Hillbillies back in the 1920s. He wrote such songs as "East Tennessee Blues" and "Nine Pound Hammer". Id be thrilled to hear from anyone familiar wih his fiddle playing and his music. ssadler_2003@yahoo.com. -Scott
