Most of it has been on before but there's some good stuff there. I haven't seen the Doc Watson thing before.

The Ralph Stanley was a repeat, Down from the Mountain was a repeat (both welcome), Gillian Welch may have been ???

Next week they start repeating the seven films in the Martin Scorsese
series on the blues (Apparently he invented it/them). I believe they are showing on successive nights, they do include some crap, the Blind Willie Johnson section and the UK section in particular but there is still much good music to be heard.

All of the above have yet to be repeated on BBC terrestial channels meaning that many who pay for the BBC via their licence fee are unable to view them.

Hoot

dunno,
it will probly be repeated in 2 weeks,
general format on bbc4 = play something good, then repeat it in 2 weeks, for them that missed it, keep an eye on bbc4 in the next 2 weeks.

[its digital only, sky, freeview etc].

JEESE, it went on, it's 4AM...and the Clinch Mountain Boys are still going.. ..... liked the earlier Dolly Story, ..... also had some stuff called 'blue grass', but Benny Hill wasn't anywhere to be found!!??...but some great EmmyLou, Alison Krauss.

The thing on Doc Watson was interesting, he was singing pure unaccompanied English folk!!

I'm going to learn Ralph Stanley's 'Oh Death' for the next 'acoustic night' I go to...!

now where can you get a 3 fingered banjo in Warwickshire?

it's on all night, a few different programmes, including bluegrass, a concert by Gillian Welch, and other stuff, part of the BBC Sessions series, see bbc4 website for full details.
