Subject: RE: Tech: Why does my Find button.... From: JohnInKansas Date: 30 Jan 05 - 01:24 AM A few years (months maybe) ago, I'd likely have suggested a "noisy" cable or connector on your mouse or your keyboard for the Find button problem. And a check of properties on the Quick Launch buttons would have been expected to clear their problems. (Right click the button and you should be able to click Properties. Look at the Shortcut tab to see where it's aimed.) The very high incidence of crudware "search toolbars" being foisted on people recently suggests that an incompletely removed pseudosearch toolbar/worm/p.o.s./crudware, or just a malfuncioning one, could be interfering with "where you want to go." A few of these deliberately attempt to disable existing links, or attempt to redirect them elsewhere. The first step I'd suggest would be to re-create new Quick Launch buttons with slightly different names. If the new ones work, you can delete the old ones. Beyond that, it's a matter of digging around until things quit not working. (i.e., I haven't the foggiest notion what to suggest next.) If you have been "gifted" with one of the so-called toolbar vermin, any recollections about which one(s) were deleted might give you a clue about where to look for more complete/additional removal steps you can do. Subject: Tech: Why does my Find button.... From: Sorcha Date: 29 Jan 05 - 10:59 PM Dissapear before I can type anything in the box?IF I'm quick enough I can get it to work, but the box just won't stay there. And, while I'm here, why is it that the only one of my Quick Launch buttons, for the home page (MSN) works? The others, Mudcat, Google, etc just freeze up the process. I have to Alt/Cntrl/Delete and then re boot. Then, 'sometimes' the other Quick Launch buttons work for a while. |
