Subject: RE: Guthrie's 'Over the Waterfall' (actually Seeger) From: Pauline L Date: 14 Mar 05 - 01:58 AM This is my favorite version of Over the Waterfall. It is annotated "Play exactly as written." I guarantee that it will make you laugh. |
Subject: RE: Woody Guthrie's 'Over the Waterfall' From: Joe Offer Date: 13 Mar 05 - 03:13 AM I've found that while it's the best that's available, The [Nearly] Complete Collection of Woody Guthrie Folk Songs isn't nearly as complete as I'd like it - and it doesn't help me find this song. Oh, wait - I don't think it's by Woody. It's Don't Ask What a River Is For (click), by Pete Seeger - and it's in our Digital Tradition Folk Song Database. Melody is "Over the Waterfall." I wonder if there's any chance you'll find this. It was buried in the "unanswered requests" thread, so I moved it here. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: PermaThread™ Unanswered Requests From: GUEST,polly Date: 09 Mar 05 - 11:22 PM Can't find the lyrics to the other verses to Woody Guthrie's "Over the Waterfall". First verse and chorus are something like this: 1st verse: on the oregon idaho border you can find a great tricklin stream some call her old hell's canyon but to me she's a heavenly dream chorus: come a rika tika tinka tinka bubblin on don't ask what a river is for come a rika tika tinka tinka bubblin on let's ask for a billion more |
