Subject: RE: another music site From: PoppaGator Date: 25 Apr 05 - 04:14 PM A common problem in using the "blickifier" or link-maker is failure to include the ENTIRE web address. You can follow the intructions completely and perfectly in every other manner, but if you type in "www.domainname.com," it won't work ~ you have to include the "http" prefix along with everything else. It's best to bring up the site you want to link to (ideally, in a separate browser window), highlight the entire address line, copy it, and then paste it into the blickifier. Don't even try to retype the address ~ always copy-and-paste. This method works for any Mudcat thread or post as well as for any "outside" page. If you have your cursor positioned in the body of any posting within a thread (except the first one), the complete web address will include a number that indicates that message, so the link will bring up that particular message. If the cursor is positioned in the first posting when you make your link, the link will bring up the top of the thread. |

Subject: RE: another music site From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 25 Apr 05 - 03:15 PM I tole ya HTML does odd things. Sorry, my instructions won't pass muster with the HTML gods. They produce ninks to Forbidden 'gobbledegook.' |

Subject: RE: another music site From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 25 Apr 05 - 03:09 PM Tom, instructions should be in FAQ, but I can't find them. FAQ looks like it just grew, without organization. I found brief instructions in thread 19340 (also hard to understand by non-computerverbalists): Mudcat HTML For a link to a site on the web- 1. Type: (no space) following the ca/ 4. Insert title of thread, Radio Canada (or just type 'click' if you are Lazy Mary). 5. Close with This should produce the link: Radio Canada To link to a Mudcat thread: 1. Type 3. Type in thread title or number (or type 'click'). 4. Finish with This should produce the link: HTML Now if I haven't violated any html rules and regulations, those should work. Or have I been as clear as mud? I am afraid that I may have inadvertantly produced some sorr of perverted link with my instructions. HTML can do some weird, unexpected things. Computerverbalists, don't laugh. Feel pity for we simple-minded folk. |

Subject: RE: another music site From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 24 Apr 05 - 11:51 PM This has been a favorite for some time. The format has changed with its change in hosting, but it has been referenced in a number of threads. Formerly, its host site was www.acronet.net/~robokopp etc. which was linked in many threads. A primary source for German songs, but it pretty well covers the waterfront. Richard Kopp is most knowledgeable. Another source for German Volkslieder AND some 20,000 folk songs in all: Ingeb Frank Petersohn of British Columbia is the master of this wonderful source. Another source for German Volkslieder und Hymnen, with text and melodies, is Index A And don't miss Volkslieder Midi Collection: Midi Collection or- Markomannia, with its "virtuelles Liederbuch" has good midis and texts: Markomannia (Click on "virtuelles Liederbuch" left side of page) |
