The Folia in 'O Lusitano' is most probably an improvisation of the musicians in the studio. I asked one of them but she did not remember that well how that track was played. The 'later' Folia-theme became familiar after 1672 so the tune could not have been composed by Machado around 1600 as the slipcase mentioned. The Machado-part is incredibly beautiful indeed but too short to make it a full track! I agree great music all the way

I couldn't find complete lyrics, but I did find an explanation of the title here:
By the end of the 15th century, comic scenes set to the folía had become a staple at popular festivals and court shows. The anonymous 16th-century Portuguese vilancete Não tragais borzeguis pretos is an example; alluding sarcastically to the dreary dress code imposed at the court of King João III, it instructs the courtier that black buskins (the laced leggings covering the lowerleg and foot) shall henceforth not be worn.
So the title NÃO TRAGAIS BORZEGUIS PRETOS translates to DON'T WEAR BLACK BUSKINS.

By the way, that web site is devoted to exploration of the many variations of "La Folía", a Portuguese folk tune that has been adapted by many composers.

I've listed to the album "O Lusitano"(Portuguese vilancetes, cantigas & romances) / Lesne, Hadden, Circa 1500

It's wonderful However I can't find the lyrics anywhere. Does anyone know of the lyrics to the "Nao Tragais" song, or any of the other songs, or better have the CD liner itself, (which I can't remember if it has the songs)

Or, please refer me to a portugese sheetmusic/songbook. I need this bad.
