I would have suggested the same thing. If you have photos you can post that would help alot. If you want to find mandojunkies the mandolin cafe is the place. The forum has a section called "Looking for information on mandolins".

I've just acquired a Gibson mandolin circa 1950 but without a label, can anyone tell me where to get info on mandolins from this period, all I can find on the net is about 1900s to 1940s models.
