Didn't see that one but went to Tinariwen on Saturday 25 June and Billy Bragg on the Saturday before in the same series, which were excellent (apart from sound and lighting as is usual on the South Bank).

Looking at the full bill, I don't suppose it's hard to guess which performer was acting like an arse at your Friday concert . . . plus ça change.

Did anyone attend the Patti Smith Meltdown at Royal Festival Hall on Friday 25th June? This was the "folky" one. The audience was very sparse. Big disappointment. I booked because Shirley Collins was listed - she only did some reading, no singing. Bert Jansch was good as were 2 members of Super Furry Animals doing a Welsh traditional song. Also Robin Williamson and Johnny Marr. Some of the (mainly male) performers were very boring and self-indulgent. I don't want to risk being charged with libel by mentioning the behaviour of a certain performer who acted as if it was his gig, on for far too long trying to dominate the last number, then apparently shuffled off by the roadies, with Patti Smith quite obviously trying to disassociate herself from him. There were no write-ups of this concert in the media, unlike the other othes.
