Subject: RE: BS: Psychopathic or Not? Find out here... From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 30 Jun 05 - 06:19 PM I couldn't do the test because if I had ever met anybody who had even a few of the characteristics mentioned, I would have fled. I feel sorry for anyone who has a psychopathic person in their world. |

Subject: RE: BS: Psychopathic or Not? Find out here... From: GUEST,William Shatner Date: 30 Jun 05 - 06:31 AM Who needs tests? I gauge my own mental condition primarily on the responses I receive from those around me. In the case of that receptionist last week, I'm doing pretty well... In the case of certain vocal entertainment critics, not so well. But they're all borderline psychotics, of course. - WS |
Subject: RE: BS: Psychopathic or Not? Find out here... From: Helen Date: 29 Jun 05 - 07:30 PM Liz-t-S, You're lucky in that your former boss's behaviour was recognised and something was done about it. Last time I looked him up my boss-from-hell was promoted to the "Organisational Change Manager" of our very large regional local council so not under review or removed from his post but rewarded for his behaviour. Thankfully my basket-case status has progressed to "still feeling the effects on my health and emotional/psychological wellbeing but able to move forward in my life". Helen |
Subject: RE: BS: Psychopathic or Not? Find out here... From: Helen Date: 29 Jun 05 - 07:23 PM Well, based on my knowledge of an extreme bullying ex-boss, and given that I don't know whether he is sexually promiscuous and what his feelings were as a teenager, he scored 28, i.e. I answered "fully" for almost every question. Doesn't surprise me in the slightest because I had already evaluated him according to Tim Field's checklist of the behaviour of The serial bully and also his info on personality disorders. Helen . |

Subject: RE: BS: Psychopathic or Not? Find out here... From: Liz the Squeak Date: 29 Jun 05 - 04:40 AM The thing is.. 'fully' is not the answer to all the questions if you want to be a pyschopath. My former manager scored a 27... explains a lot about why he was removed from his post, is under strict reveiw and I was a basket case for 2 years. LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Psychopathic or Not? Find out here... From: JohnInKansas Date: 29 Jun 05 - 03:50 AM The result seems to be identical for all trials, with the exception that a bold-faced "do not" is inserted if the score is below a certain level. Best guess: some psychopath had an argument with a spouse, and is collecting info to argue "there are lots of people worse than me." Option based on the "depth of questions:" some high school kid is collecting survey results for a science fair project. It ain't the MMPI, and even it requires a lot more "reading" than is evident here. John |
Subject: RE: BS: Psychopathic or Not? Find out here... From: Noreen Date: 29 Jun 05 - 03:15 AM I went through the test answering 'fully' to all questions, which gave a test score of 36. The test results suggest strong psychopathic tendencies. This does not mean the person is a potential mass-murderer: socialised psychopaths are not mad, nor do they have to resort to violence. Even so, a close professional or emotional relationship with a socialised psychopath is likely to prove a damaging experience. |
Subject: RE: BS: Psychopathic or Not? Find out here... From: Wolfgang Date: 29 Jun 05 - 03:09 AM It's a joke. The scale goes from 0 to 36. Answer 'not at all' to an item gets you zero points for that, answer 'partially' gets you one point, answer on the right hand side gets you two points. Wolfgang |
Subject: RE: BS: Psychopathic or Not? Find out here... From: GUEST,.gargoyle Date: 29 Jun 05 - 02:19 AM Apparently, on both scales, I am the middle-ground standard against which all others are evaluated. Too normal, to be normal.

Subject: RE: BS: Psychopathic or Not? Find out here... From: JennyO Date: 29 Jun 05 - 12:27 AM Only got a 5 for the psychopathic test, but some of the people around me scored high :-) As for the Machiavelli test, I got 50% - right down the middle - pretty much what I would have expected. I felt very ambivalent about a lot of those questions. In an ideal world, a low score would be great - but we live in the real world, and we have to find a balance between walking all over people and being walked all over. In the end, we mostly do what is necessary to survive, whilst causing as little hurt as possible - "Do what ye will, but harm none" works for me. Jenny |
Subject: RE: BS: Psychopathic or Not? Find out here... From: sixtieschick Date: 28 Jun 05 - 10:07 PM Yikes--that was not a slur on you, mack/misophist. It was aimed at Machiavelli, who is long dead (heck, I stood before his tomb once) and therefore cannot reach out with his tortured fingers in my direction. Anyway, he is presumably now a Buddhist monk practising ahimsa and humility somewhere in the jungles of Cambodia or Chicago. M. |

Subject: RE: BS: Psychopathic or Not? Find out here... From: sixtieschick Date: 28 Jun 05 - 09:21 PM Actually, as a self-test this is pretty lame, because if you account for ambiguities in your personality you gain (or lose) points. Also, a real psychopath would be convinced that he or she is a peerless person and probably lie anyway. M. |

Take the test here and find out. Using myself as subject, I answered all the questions as openly and honestly as possible, and here's what it told me: The test results don't suggest strong psychopathic tendencies. This does not mean the person isn't a potential mass-murderer. They may be mad, they may resort to violence. A close professional or emotional relationship with even the most normal of people may prove to be a damaging, or at least boring, experience. The test score was: 3 Egads. :-O Hope y'all do better than that! Better turn this thing off now and go finish beating my guitar upside the head. daylia |
