Subject: RE: Folklore: Tall Ships are coming ! From: GUEST Date: 07 Jul 05 - 09:23 AM Mudcatters are well-connected! RTE Lyric FM if you can't go see the ships, you can listen: LUNCHTIME CHOICE LIVE FROM THE TALL SHIPS RACE "With 90 ships and over 3,000 sailors and trainees, this is a festival not to be missed. Regular listeners might remember when we visited the Dunbrody Tall Ship and the AIMS Choral Festival in New Ross, Co. Wexford in May. Well, the Dunbrody is one of the many Tall Ships that will be taking part in this year's Tall Ships Race. So, if you're in Waterford, shiver your timbers mates and visit us on the quays alongside the ships - where we'll have a selection of live music, interviews and entertainment from this exciting festival. And for those in the car, at home, in the office, on the beach, wherever you are...you can hear what's happening at the Tall Ships on lyric. Thursday 7th and Friday July 8th, 12.30 - 3pm" "Waterford has the honnor of being the first Irish city to host the start of the Tall Ships Race with 90 ships crewed by over 3,000 sailors and trainees. To celebrate this Liz Nolan will present the programme live from Waterford, bringing you music with a nautical theme." and also look up Frank Harte programmes on Lyric FM |

Subject: RE: Folklore: Tall Ships are coming ! From: Blowzabella Date: 06 Jul 05 - 08:27 PM My elder brother will be there too. He's on a boat called Black Diamond and he's called..well, we don't need to go into that. Avoid him like the plague, if you're a breathing woman - he's an ex-submariner! (Only joking - he's callled Mike and very nice!) |

Subject: RE: Folklore: Tall Ships are coming ! From: *Laura* Date: 06 Jul 05 - 02:43 PM Look for a ship called Provident - my brother is skipper and he'll sing songs with you!! Only I'm not sure which part of the race he's doing. SO he may or may not be there. Ask for Diggory :o) xLx |

Subject: RE: Folklore: Tall Ships are coming ! From: GUEST,Cluthabloke Date: 04 Jul 05 - 03:57 PM If you mean the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Race you're in for a treat if your harbour & events people have done it right. Cutty Sark Tall Ships were in Greenock in 1999 and this was one of the best events / festivals I've ever seen (and I've been to a few!)The atmosphere was sooo terrific and people still talk about it. The bid from here to bring the event back next time lost out to Liverpool (narrowly) Take time off work to get to everything you can! |
