I recently came across some photos which I took on the occasion of Danny Kyle's 50th birthday. I'm sure it was Citty who had organised the surprise for Danny and she certainly brought a bin bag fll of silly hats for us all to wear! The snaps were taken in a nearby hotel where we all lurked while waiting for the interval in Danny's gig. He certainly was surprised when we all burst in and Billy took over the audience. Unfortunately Citty is not on any of the pictures but I don't need anything to remind me of her. She was a lovely sparkly person.

Certainly makes me sad to hear this. I never met her, but we exchanged eMails at one point, and I know she was a major pillar of the Scottish folk scene. I hope she was spared much suffering.

This message about funeral arrangements came in from Citty's husband:

Kirkcaldy Crematorium 10.15am Thursday August 11. Family flowers only please. Donations can be made to CancerBACUP in lieu.

We only have a 15min slot so it will all be over quickly.

Everyone must deal with this how they choose but there is no requirement to be sad.

Some people are organising something in Muchty after the funeral – tea and sandwiches I think.

There will be an event later this summer to celebrate her life. Probably in Strathmiglo Village Hall.

iain miles

Just heard that Citty Finlayson passed away yesterday morning. She was probably best known as the guiding light behind the Auchtermuchty Festival and had been battling cancer for some time.
