When, in a past life I used to organise dances, there was always someone, on the afternoon of the dance, when the caterers had been given the numbers, would say 'Can I have six tickets for tonight.'
They would then, when told that they should have booked a week ago, say, 'But you know we always come!'

Dusting?   The term sounds as if one has a supply of dust which one proceeds to spread about one's living quarters.

It's the bane of the Mudcat Gatherings we've hosted, too. I need to know which rooms/how many to sweep out-- there are too many to have them all "instantly" ready in case the whole crowd actually comes. If only they'd bring dusters and get the rooms ready, themselves, it would not be so frustrating-- I could even leave the house unlocked in case someone invites me to something more definite. I've stayed home waiting for people who never came, nor even called, who had been "maybe" enough that I set the time aside.

It's amazing how many people don't seem to realize that a hostess or a session leader needs to know how many people are coming to an affair.

I'm thinking of getting a bumpersticker that simply says "Respond."

Wait, there's an upside. I think you've got PEL's solved and haven't noticed it yet.

If each session-goer brings a duster for self and guest, then you've got PEL's beat. "Sir, this is no session, it's a work-bee! We're dusting, can't you see? We only wish that one bloke raving on in the corner would shut up and do a turn on the cobwebs!"

This is such a huge frustration of mine. It seems like people don't feel the need to RSVP to an email. I've trimmed my invitation list dramatically because of such rudeness. And then people wonder why they don't get invited any more.

Grrrrr,
M.

i thought this was about the news i heard
recently about a fatal episode with inhalng
compressed "air" which is called "dusting"

problem is, the propellant in the aerosol
cans is heavier than air and settles in
the lungs and does not let oxygen in
resulting in death..very dangerous

if you have any of these cans around
for cleaning key boards, photography equip,
etc. make sure to keep them out of reach
from kids.

Funny I should have mentioned dusters.....just heard that someone goin to Reading Festival has made an Iron Maiden flag out of a duster so that he can spot himself in the crowd on the TV.

8.33 percent response rate - which is better then most poll takers expect when doing a mass mailing.

But lousy response all the same.

I heard that of 72 people invited to a session at The Red Cow in Nantwich during the Saturday of the August Bank Holiday Folk and Roots festival weekend, the following replies were recieved:

Yes please 2
No thank you 2
What's that then ? 1
Please may I come and take photographs the day before? 1
Regulars assumed coming. 7
Too busy dusting to respond. 59

Can we bring our dusters?
