Although I have appreciated Bob Dylan's music since he first appeared on recordings and have lps, cassettes, and CDs as evidence I almost did not watch the special as I have virtually no interest in Dylan's personal life. I am glad my wife convinced me to give it a try. It is an interesting chronicle of the time as well as a glimpse at Dylan's early years. I am ready for part II.

I do find the show interesting and will probably watch Part II. It does fill in some gaps and may provide some insight into how this well-known singer-songwriter developed and flourished.

I don't find any of the comments mean-spirited, although some are certainly critical and that is fine. Most of those interviewed have had years to process their feelings, and any early anger that Dylan may have provoked has mellowed.

Last night I watched Part One of the PBS Bob Dylan specials. I enjoyed it very much. So much, in fact, that I'm going to skip going to music tonight so I can watch Part Two.

I'm not sure why or how but I somehow missed Bob Dylan all these years. Of course I knew of his existence and knew some - a very few - of his songs. And of course I had seen some people mock his delivery. But I had not ever watched him perfom.

In the last couple of years some of his songs have been done in the music circles I move in, notably by Buddy Tabor. Dylan was one of Buddy's early inspirations.

I'm ready to agree with Little Hawk. Bob Dylan is a genius.
