I had to follow him at Rick's CD release broadcast and felt my performing career ending before my eyes ...... LOL. He is an amazing performer and if his kin are of the same cloth, then this must have been a spectacular show. What the hell is it with Canada...the water??? That city and country is so loaded with talent. Mick |

Subject: RE: Review: The Whiteley Family Gospel Show! Dec4/TO From: black walnut Date: 17 Dec 05 - 03:54 PM I can't believe that no one responded to this thread when I posted it earlier in the month. It was quite an historical event, really. Each one of the Whiteley's has a musical career of his/her own. As a family they are Canadian legends. Ken Whiteley just won the Estelle Klein Award at this year's Ontario Council of Folk Festivals Conference in Kingston. To see them together, singing as a family, was like joining them in their living room for a singaround...a relaxed and joyous event. ~b.w. |

Subject: The Whiteley Family Gospel Show! Dec4/TO From: black walnut Date: 04 Dec 05 - 05:07 PM I just got back from the FIRST EVER Whiteley Family Gospel Show - at Hugh's Room in Toronto. Ken Whiteley, Chris Whiteley, Jenny Whiteley, Dan Whiteley, Ben Whiteley, Jesse Whiteley, and Caitlin Hanford (Chris' wife). WOW! Fabulous! What talent! Voices plus....guitar, harmonica, resophonic, mandolins, keyboard, Hammond organ, snare, standup bass, trumpet....am I missing anything? Highlights for me were: What a Wonderful World Just a Closer Walk with Thee Golden On a High High Mountain Travelin' the Highway Home ~b.w. |
