Subject: RE: BBC Young Folk Award From: s&r Date: 10 Dec 05 - 08:47 AM Bodega. High energy unusual mix of bagpipes harp 2fiddles guitar dumbek (or similar). Good musicians. Nobody did anything other than superbly. Sound had a number of glitches which shouldn't happen with a team of professionals in a top class venue (and what a venue!) Stu |

Subject: RE: BBC Young Folk Award From: GUEST,Krypton Date: 09 Dec 05 - 02:25 PM Saw Lauren MacColl at Cambridge. Superb. Any of this year's finalists will be a worthy winner. |
Subject: RE: BBC Young Folk Award From: GUEST,Hampshire Hog Date: 09 Dec 05 - 12:32 PM I see that last year's winner Lauren MacColl is appearing at the 2006 Gosport & Fareham Easter Festival in Hampshire just down the road from my Winchester home. The Festival Organiser Peter Chegwyn told me last week that three of this year's finalists from Scotland, Bodega, Matheu Watson and Shona Donaldson, are all well worth hearing. Peter goes to the Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow every January and is always impressed by the musical talent north of the border. "They just get younger and better" he says. |
