I have a 78 record I purchased in 1940 with Tennessee Ernie Ford and there are probably better versions of this song but if so I never heard them.He uses a trumpet through out the song and it really gets yor attention,in fact it adds everything a tune needs to make it stand out

Hmm... not the way I learned it, but who knows. I know two version, one of which is slow and uses a minor transition, the other of which is lively and sounds more like a banjo tune.

Pete Seeger has withheld lyrics and music of his version of "Old Blue" and his other copyright songs from internet providers, according to www.kiwilyrics.com .

Not what you ask for, but two versions of lyrics for this old mountain and African-American song are in thread 9707 and the Baez lyrics are in the DT. Old Blue
