Besides Stefan Sobell (of course) I can recommend

Heiner Dreizehnter - full sound, like a synthesizer wall, rich in upper harmonics, good for anything you can do on a bouzouki
www.acoustic-guitars.de

Hugo Valcke - very strong sound, great for rhythm playing, solid rocking lower notes.

Not sure what your price range is, and all the makers mentioned are superb. One underated maker is Freshwater. He is located in Scotland. My Freshwater bouzouki has a wonderfully unique tone quality. Part of this is due to the wider and deeper box.

All the best,

Mick

Rob Armstrong doesn't have a website, but the Gordon Giltrap site hosts the Armstrong Owners Club. I'd love to know who got Swarb's guitar; Rob reckons it was one of his best. Rob also has a catalogue of past instruments, and it's best described as 'stringporn'; some really fab stuff in there, including doubleneck guitar/bouzouki etc. If you give him a call he may send you a catalogue, but the best thing to do is go and talk to him.

Try;
Rob Armstrong Hand Built Guitars
52 Stratford Street,
Coventry,
CV2 4NJ,
tel 02476 442502
Rob makes superb instruments, and his bouzoukis are phenomenal. Roger Bucknall at fyldeguitars.com is also well worth a look. Not sure if John Hullah is still building. Stefan Sobell is pricey but brilliant, and try a search for Northworthy Guitars, who build zooks to custom order.

Well I was going to look through past threads, but that appears to be broken at the moment. Can any of you recommend a bouzouki maker, preferably in the South or Midlands, UK, preferably with a web site?
