Subject: RE: Origins: Origins of this song ... anyone know From: number 6 Date: 15 Feb 06 - 11:57 AM "The summer passed And November tarried Now the ice forms massed And the cold wind carried We fought our way To bring our ship home Near the Bay of Fundy Slipped beneath the foam" Very moving ... 2 winters ago a fishing boat went down with the tragic loss of it's crew of 4 while sailing from Campobello Is. to Maces Bay. sIx |

Subject: RE: Origins: Origins of this song ... anyone know From: number 6 Date: 15 Feb 06 - 11:41 AM Thanks for the feedback ... the lyrics are beautiful ... I find it even more intriguing as I live in Saint John and am very familiar with the communiy and area of Grand Bay and the the Bay Fundy itself. I'll check out Jed's website and hopefully will obtain the origins and melody. Will keep you posted. It certainly is a keeper regardless. sIx |

Subject: RE: Origins: Origins of this song ... anyone know From: Charley Noble Date: 15 Feb 06 - 09:13 AM I agree this is a fine song, has a good traditional feel to it and leaves a lot to the imagination but clearly the ship went down... I'd like to know more about it. Cheerily, Charley Noble, who hardly needs another tragic sea song |
