Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Friday Feb24 2006 From: Moses Date: 27 Feb 06 - 03:29 AM Hi all Just got back in to work and, as I am being paid for working and not for posting on the Mudcat, I'll just say how very much I enjoyed Friday evening. Steve said it all in his post. We had a great eveing and are looking forward to seeing you all again in August. Christine |
Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Friday Feb24 2006 From: Rasener Date: 25 Feb 06 - 03:12 PM I am still reliving it. I am so glad that Moses and The Ref still want to come back after such a long journey both ways and an equally long evening. I think I can honesztly say that everybody at MRFC want to see them again. I wonder if Breezys ears were burning :-) |
Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Friday Feb24 2006 From: GUEST,GS Date: 25 Feb 06 - 12:02 PM And yourself JK, that silken voice that penetrates the soul of all present. All the acts last evening were brilliant. Well done again Les. Best wishes, Mike. |
Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Friday Feb24 2006 From: JK Date: 25 Feb 06 - 09:16 AM Great night out again Les!! Enjoyed everything...'Moses and Ref' (excellent, warm personalities..very entertaining; liked your material!)..Sooz the MC! well done you!...Mike...So 'endearingly funny'(even when Sue ruins your punch lines!!/timing!! etc!)- enjoyed your set..., Paul - excellent, liked the fiddle style!... Many thanks...C U Soon...JK |
Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Friday Feb24 2006 From: Singing Referee Date: 25 Feb 06 - 06:06 AM Sounded OK to me, but yes, we should always keep trying to improve! |
Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Friday Feb24 2006 From: Strollin' Johnny Date: 25 Feb 06 - 06:04 AM Not quite that much Steve, nearer five, but yes - still worth a King's ransom. Now need to learn to play properly to do them justice! LOL! And that they match was (almost) accidental! S:0) |
Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Friday Feb24 2006 From: Singing Referee Date: 25 Feb 06 - 05:45 AM Almost forgot (how could I!) NINE GRAND's worth of matching guitars!!!!!!! |
Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Friday Feb24 2006 From: Singing Referee Date: 25 Feb 06 - 05:44 AM Thanks everyone for a great great evening. Nice clear run back, got back to my place 2:07am, Christine had another half hour to get home. Lovely music from everyone, a really warm welcome and a super joiny-in-y audience! That paul is a bit good i'nt 'e! It's great to see the good young talent coming into folk music, but when some of us old fogies have taken 40 years to be almost competent on one instrument, and he goes and plays 3 and sings good too..........!!! Lovely to see (and hear) John and the Stitherum of Dewsburys again, and Jane (with or without John) is defininety worth the return trip to hear again. Looking forward to coming back in August already. Thanks Les and all. |
Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Friday Feb24 2006 From: Travelling Audience Date: 25 Feb 06 - 05:28 AM What a great evening. Now we know who Moses & the ref. are....brilliant set and Paul...wasn't he good? Jane and John make THE Duo. Stitherum makes any concert. loved the ending....what a great finish. |
Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Friday Feb24 2006 From: Rasener Date: 25 Feb 06 - 05:21 AM I have to say that I wasn't quite sure what to expect from Paul, being the first time for him on his own at MRFC. I think that he put an awful lot of thought behind what he was going to do and was very pleasantly surprised to see him playing guitar, gob iron and fiddle as well as singing. He will go far. |
Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Friday Feb24 2006 From: Sooz Date: 25 Feb 06 - 05:09 AM If it could make a noise, people were playing it! That finale was fun. (Hope the folk police don't find out!) Highlight of the evening for me was Paul's gob iron. |
Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Friday Feb24 2006 From: Rasener Date: 24 Feb 06 - 07:51 PM Well here we go again. What an excellent evening of folk music, from start to finish. All performers gave us some really good and varied numbers. Thank you one and all. Very nice audience as usual, and I would like to thank all of you for coming. Just a special thanks to Moses and The Ref for coming so far and giving us all a real treat. We hope you get home safely and don't get stopped by the border guards. What a finish - all the performers on stage joining in with Mike and Sue Dewsbury (Stitherum) to do their last number with excellent audience participation. Smashing evening. |

Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Friday Feb24 2006 From: Rasener Date: 22 Feb 06 - 04:49 AM Whats the weather like today? Market Rasen is showers and a bit windy (but that may be due to the enormous amount of baked beans consumed in this area). As yet no snow. |
Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Friday Feb24 2006 From: Rasener Date: 21 Feb 06 - 01:05 PM Strange that as its normally Market Rasen area that gets it and The Wolds. Its been Ok today in Market Rasen and Lincoln (had to go and see the old folks - prepare the old man for his 90th birthday on the 28th Feb - good job he wasn't born on the 29th otherwise he would only be about 22 and wouldn't get his pension). |
Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Friday Feb24 2006 From: Sooz Date: 21 Feb 06 - 12:18 PM No we got back eventually but very late because the M1 was closed. (Had a great evening though) It was snowing and hailing here in Corringham this morning, however briefly. It looks quite benign now. |
Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Friday Feb24 2006 From: Strollin' Johnny Date: 21 Feb 06 - 12:02 PM She's probably in a cell at a checkpoint on the border of The Peoples' Independent Socialist Republic Of South Yorkshire - that's where she was headed when I spoke to her last neet. |
Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Friday Feb24 2006 From: Rasener Date: 21 Feb 06 - 11:55 AM Haven't seen any snow here. We will have to keep a close eye on the situation. Where has Sooz gone, is she snowbound or something? |
