Hi,

I am a third-grade teacher at an international school in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. I've just started teaching an American dance class to a group of kids (all right, I'll admit, only girls signed up) using Chimes of Dunkirk, a CD that comes with nice easy instructions for teachers like me who like to dance but know nothing about playing traditional music or calling a dance.

The kids are very enthusiastic and I'd like nothing better than to show them what a real dance is like, with real music. But we aren't exactly bursting at the seams with that sort of thing here! So here's my request--if anyone who's listening here is headed to southeast Asia and would enjoy this sort of crazy opportunity, I have a guest room in my house and will happily treat you like royalty, drive you around, give you the nickel tour, whatever... in exchange for a dance at our school. We can probably come up with some cash to sweeten the deal.

Vientiane is easy to get to if you are traveling in Thailand or Vietnam. I'll happily pick you up at the train station in Nong Khai (Thailand) or the airport in Vientiane or Udonthani (Thailand).

Any takers?

thanks,

Laura
