Subject: happy? – Mar 3 (beginning of folk music) From: Abby Sale Date: 03 Mar 06 - 08:58 AM In the Encyclopedia of the American Left under Pete Seeger's bio: In Washington, D.C. "On March 3, 1940, a date folklorist Alan Lomax once said could be celebrated as the beginning of modern folk music, Seeger met Woody Guthrie at a "Grapes of Wrath" migrant-worker benefit concert." The concert was organized by actor-folksinger-radical Will Geer. [thanx Max Wallace] ALSO: Abby Sale's first real inline street skating was 3/3/1998. (Actual photo here)
