Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Susan of DT Date: 19 May 06 - 10:29 AM I am leaving for a music weekend, so I will not be answering things for the next few days. The last of my auction items will end Monday, so I will be packing up the LPs after that. Let me know when you have paid. Gargoyle - I still need your address. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Susan of DT Date: 16 May 06 - 03:39 PM 22 LPs have closed in the auction, with 13 more still in play. There have been 9 winners, so far. I have addresses for: Harpgirl, Bobad, Stilly, Charmion, Kendall Don M - do you want them at Old Songs? No addresses yet for: IvanB, Gargoyle, Katlaughing I also need to know when you sent Max the money. If you use a credit card thru Camsco, just mention the auction so Dick will tell me about it. Canadians are best off using Paypal or CAMSCO since US banks do not want Canadian checks or money orders, even in US$. Thank you for helping mudcat. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Susan of DT Date: 14 May 06 - 03:59 PM I just some more to the auction. I have not heard from most of the auction winners yet with addresses, etc. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Susan of DT Date: 13 May 06 - 06:55 PM Stilly - Yes, let's wait until the other auction items close. Just send everything to Max. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Stilly River Sage Date: 13 May 06 - 11:22 AM I'll be sending a donation larger than just the bid on this one or two albums once the auctions wrap up. But do you want the donation for the album sent to Max and the cost of the postage sent to you? I'll use PayPal for both. SRS |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Susan of DT Date: 13 May 06 - 10:59 AM Now that I have the mailers and can weigh the packages, I can give you a mcuh better idea on the postage. As expected, the more you get, the cheaper the postage is per item. For packages to US addresses: 1 LP $3 3 LP $3.50 5 LP $4 I need the addresses of winners and to know that you have paid (me or Max). |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Susan of DT Date: 12 May 06 - 06:42 AM Gargoyle has put in a more handsome bid than anyone in the "official" auction, so I will withdraw those items. (Stilly - I have heard from him) HARPGIRL - Where are you??? |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Stilly River Sage Date: 12 May 06 - 12:27 AM I think he's in Germany so you may also encouter some delays in response to posts. Maybe by now he has emailed you? SRS |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Susan of DT Date: 11 May 06 - 11:42 AM Gargoyle? Which Lightfoot did you want? or 2 or 3 for that price, other than the "Lightfoot" album that has significant bids already. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Susan of DT Date: 10 May 06 - 11:29 AM Thanks, Stilly. I did not think of that. Gargoyle - send me your email. mine is susan@digitrad.org The Lightfeet are: Lightfoot; Classic Lightfoot; Best of; If You Could REad My Mind, and Way I Feel. Seeger are Waist Deep in the Big Muddy, Folk Music of the World; Three Saints & 4 Sinners. Can you ge tto the auction, read only, or not at all? |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Stilly River Sage Date: 10 May 06 - 11:14 AM Gargoyle is a permanent guest, he can't bid in the members only auction. That's why he's writing to you in the thread, Susan. SRS |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Susan of DT Date: 10 May 06 - 10:16 AM Gargoyle - How about posting the bids on the auction? Up at the top under Mudcat Cafe is a link for the auction page. Which Lightfoot did you have in mind? There are 5 Lightfoots in the auction. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: GUEST,.gargoyle Date: 09 May 06 - 10:57 PM The offer is legit.
Consider the four sold....replay to this thread....and payment will arrive before Friday this week.
Sincerely, |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: GUEST,.gargoyle Date: 09 May 06 - 10:52 PM Susan of the DT -consider it $20.00 each for three different Pete's($60 total) your pay on the, postage. Toss in the Lightfoot and a crisp 100 (US) will scurry on its way....with a USA address for delivery. All or nothing? ($100 total for 4 (four) LP's.)
Sincerely,
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Stilly River Sage Date: 09 May 06 - 08:31 PM The postage is more than most of the albums, but heck, it's for a good cause! |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Susan of DT Date: 09 May 06 - 08:22 AM Harpgirl - I PM'd you last week to ask for your address. The auction is going well. Nine people are bidding so far and over $50 has been raised for mudcat. More than half of the records are finding new homes. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Susan of DT Date: 08 May 06 - 06:33 AM I'll be able to be more exact with postage once I receive the mailers. The LPs can be sent by media mail, which is cheap, but not to Canada as cheaply. Best guess at this point: $2something for one LP and $3something for two LPs. Remember a couple of these are twofers (2LPs in a double jacket) and therefore heavier. Some of you are bidding on several, so the postage per LP gets less with several in a mailer. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 07 May 06 - 03:39 AM One of the bands listed I haven't heard of: the Freedom Pants RtS (I'll get me coat...) |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Susan of DT Date: 06 May 06 - 02:53 PM Charmion - I'm listening to it now. It sounds good to me. Gargoyle - I added 2 Pete Seegers. I'll probably post a third, but keep the fourth. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: John on the Sunset Coast Date: 06 May 06 - 10:47 AM Thank you, Charmion, for not calling Gordon Lightfoot's "Lightfoot" a 'self-titled album'. Eponymous is the perfect and specific word for what that relationship is. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Susan of DT Date: 06 May 06 - 06:23 AM Gargoyle - There are several Pete Seeger albums and I have not listed them yet. I will soon. I just ordered some mailers, so we won't have to wait for late June. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: GUEST,.gargoyle Date: 05 May 06 - 10:59 PM I will bid for the Pete Seeger $20.00 US.
Sincerely, |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Charmion Date: 05 May 06 - 09:33 PM The first Gordon Lightfoot album, an eponymous item called, oddly enough, "Lightfoot", has two of my favourite cuts by that artist. If it's in decent shape I would pay decent money for it. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Susan of DT Date: 05 May 06 - 11:09 AM Don - None of these were ever my favorites, so they have not been played a lot. I'll deliver yours to you at Old Songs. Bobad, Harpgirl, Arkie and Wesley - I'd rather wait until I have record mailers, which I will ge tfrom Sandy Paton at Old Songs, but I can try to rig mailers before that, if you are in a hurry. I will be adding more records to the auction. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: GUEST,DonMeixner Date: 04 May 06 - 08:29 PM The scary thing is I am bidding on LPs I own in the hope and speculation that Susan's survived better than mine. Spaw, I ain't surprised either. Don |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: bobad Date: 04 May 06 - 05:24 PM I'm in Canada, Ontario to be specific, I don't mind paying postage if I'm lucky in the auction. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Wesley S Date: 04 May 06 - 05:17 PM I know one that I's love to find is the first Geoff Muldaur LP. I think it's called Poor Boy Blues. I'd love to get any kind of a copy or whatever. |

Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: folkwaller Date: 03 May 06 - 03:10 PM I'm always interested in the right material. More info would be welcombe. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Susan of DT Date: 03 May 06 - 09:04 AM Don - I'll keep a stack for you for Old Songs, assuming you end up the winner on some of these and you can wait to send a check to Max until we finish the various auctions. Wesley and Bobad - Where do you live? Do you go to any festivals I go to (FSGW weekends, Mystic, Old Songs, NEFFA, NOMAD (not next year), Champlain (haven't decided about this year yet), Whitby, NY Eistedfodd... Catspaw - I haven't seen any bids from you yet. I am gradually adding LPs to the auction. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Susan of DT Date: 30 Apr 06 - 07:42 AM I added some more LPs to the auction: Odetta Patrick Sky Cisco Houston Peter LaFarge Winner pays postage on all of them, which I forgot to mention on a couple of them. Don - the Bill Destler is the Swallowtail recording. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: Bill D Date: 26 Apr 06 - 03:52 PM LPs have the problem that it is harder & harder to maintain a player and get (good) needles. I have some LPs that I doubt will ever be on CD...unless I play and convert them myself using the PC. I have a nice offer to help me get set up to do just that....gotta get on it this summer. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Auction From: katlaughing Date: 26 Apr 06 - 03:05 PM Musicman, that's okay. I think they'd weigh way too much for it to be reasonable. DO any schools, nursing homes, etc. still play LPs once in awhile when you're not there live and in person? |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Action From: catspaw49 Date: 26 Apr 06 - 03:01 PM LOL.......My list would be almost identical to Don's which doesn't surprise me at all.....and won't surprise Don either. Spaw |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Action From: Susan of DT Date: 26 Apr 06 - 02:53 PM I started with the Buffy stuff after Don expressed interest. No bids yet. Is it worth listing any of the other records? See list of performers above. There is also some classical I did not think to mention. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Action From: Musicman Date: 26 Apr 06 - 01:13 PM kat.... i'll check and see how many sets there are.. and how much they weight.. then you can make me an offer... musicman |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Action From: katlaughing Date: 25 Apr 06 - 06:35 AM Hmmm...forgot we were talking LPs, MM. Bit too heavy for decent shipping rates, I am sure.:-) Darn! |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Action From: katlaughing Date: 24 Apr 06 - 10:32 PM Yes, musicman! How much? Susan, I'll bet Night Owl would love some of those; she lost every LP she ahd in a house fire some years ago. She doesn't get online much right now, but I'll tell her about the list and see what she'd like to bid on. Great idea! |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Action From: Musicman Date: 24 Apr 06 - 10:21 PM gee.. i've got the complete mozart collection on lp.. if anyone is interested.... boxed sets... lotsa boxes, most never played... might be costly to ship though... heavy stuff... mmmmmm... any takers? musicman.. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Action From: Susan of DT Date: 24 Apr 06 - 08:42 PM OK, I will submit some to the auction. If Don wins, I can bring them to Old Songs and not deal with postage. Sandy Paton said I can have some of his spare LP mailers, so it should not be a big problem in any event. Some Buffy Ste Marie are in the auction. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Action From: Folkiedave Date: 24 Apr 06 - 01:05 PM Take a look at GEMM for an idea of value. |
Subject: RE: LPs for Mudcat Action From: DonMeixner Date: 24 Apr 06 - 12:14 PM Hi Susan, I would be interested in a number of them depending on the LP, condition, .....Bill Destler has always interested me but I think he only did one record and I have it. The rest are of interest depending on the LP. Buffy Ste. Marie Mimi & Richard Farina Cisco Houston Peter LaFarge Chad Mitchell Trio Newport Folk Festival Pete Seeger Pat Sky Tom Paxton Don |
Subject: LPs for Mudcat Action From: Susan of DT Date: 24 Apr 06 - 12:09 PM Is there any point to putting LPs into the mudcat auction? I plan to keep most of my LPs and keep listening to them, but there are a fair number that I am not likely to listen to again, since my tastes have changed over the last 40 years. Is anyone interested in such performers as Buffy Ste. Marie Bill Destler Mimi & Richard Farina Hillel and Aviva Cisco Houston Peter LaFarge Gordon Lightfoot Chad Mitchell Trio Newport Folk Festival Odetta Roof Top Singers Martha Schlamme Pete Seeger Pat Sky Fennig's All Stars Tom Paxton Swiss Band Organ If there is any interest, I'll start submitting them for the auction. Other people may wish to list what they are willing to part with. |
