Subject: RE: Tech: Silktide.com rating From: JohnInKansas Date: 27 Apr 06 - 03:39 PM Near the top of the silktide page that's linked above, there's a "vote for this site." Sounded like a good idea. Vote entered, but there's no way out - because it proceeds to a seemingly endless chain of additional sites and requests they be rated. The chain - for me - ended only when I got to a site so poorly designed that it wouldn't complete loading and I had to close the browser instance to get out. One of my criteria for new sites is "does it do what you expect" when you use page features. When is said "rate this site" I expected to rate ONE. Instead a played the good boy and rated about 30. Give silktide about a 3 for page design: links/instructions misleading. But what they say about the 'cat is interesting. Some of their negative comments could be worth a quibble, as Mudcat has a rather special purpose and function. Their suggested "improvements" could, in a couple of cases, reduce usefulness for our purposes. John |
