we'll see you next time around PoppaGator, if you can't make it. All the best

Chances are looking slimer and slimmer that I'll make it to the festival, so re-lamination will probably have to wait. (It hadn't occurred to me that a little plastic tag might confer hurricane-proof status, but maybe that's the reason the entire Gulf Coast has enjoyed a year off from big-time stormy weather.)

Shouldn't have to wait too long, though ~ the Krewe is playing a much less remote festival the very next weekend (Wooden Boat Festival in Madisonville, LA, site of the group's very first engagement a couple of years ago). I'm sure I'll be able to show up for that one.

KC and Kathi King report this morning that Danny O'F just made a bunch of last-minute changes to the Lake Charles schedule, including cancellation of one stage for the entire weekend, which in turn almost eliminates the NOQSK. Kathi tells me that our group is now appearing only twice, both in late-hours spots unlikely to draw any audience at all (i.e., opposite headline acts).

Another discouraging development is that I'm not the only member who won't be able to make the 300 mile trip. Even if no one else goes, however, I think the Kings will attend; at worst, the group's spots on the schedule could possibly wind up as solo appearances by KC.

We will meet and rehearse tomorrow (Thursday) evening, at which time we'll have a better idea of who and how many will travel to Lake Charles. Those of us who can't and won't will be preparing for the following weekend's appearance at Madisonville, where everyone should be able to show up, no excuses.

Best of luck with it Jed!
Cape Breton's Celtic Colours Festival is now under way for its 10th year and it has grown to massive proportions. We would love to see you as a part of it sometime in the future. You can see information on an open Mudcat thread.
Bookings are done through RAVE Entertainment. They can be contacted here:

I expect that they are already working on next years show.

The N.O. Quarter Shanty Krewe (of which I am a member) is booked for this festival. I hope to be there, along with KC King and the rest of the group, but family obligations may make it impossible. I won't decide until the last minute.

Last month's Celticfest in Jackson, MS, marked my first-ever appearance as a festival performer (complete with laminate pass). It was lots of fun, and I'll be disappointed if I am indeed unable to make it to Lake Charles. In Jackson, I met quite a few Celtic Texans who know Jed; a couple of them had even heard of me (under my Mudcat name).

I will do Barry - I gather Tommy is ill and won't be making the trip. I am very sorry to hear that. But the Makem Brothers carry on the tradition beautifully and I am looking forward to seeing them again. As far as I konw Mickey and Liam will be with them.

I see the link above is not working .... the festival music lineup is here.

To far for me Jed, have a great time & jam. Would you give a hello to the Makem Bros from me & to Mickey & Liam if they're with them.
Good Luck
Barry

Tommy Makem? Kingston Trio?? What hoary company.

No wonder this isn't generating much interest. The promoters need to be alerted to the fact that this is the 21st century, and book some younger acts!

Cheers,
Michael

Oct 13, 14 and 15 at the Civic Center in Lake Charles Louisiana is the 16th Annual Celtic Nations Heritage Festival.

Headliners are:
*    Tommy Makem
*    Dady Brothers
*    Jed Marum (me!)
*    Makem Brothers
*    Kingston Trio
*    Andy M. Stewart
*    Beth Patterson
*    Danny O'Flaherty

This festival was washed away last year along with much of New Orleans and Gulfport MS. But it's back in earnest for 2006 and we're hoping for a great turn out.

Tommy Makem will play one concert on Friday evening. The Makem Brothers do two shows on Saturday - and the Kingston Trio do two shows on Sunday. The rest of us do two shows on Saturday and two on Sunday. There are also several great regional bands/performers in the line up (I'll post more on this when I see the final list).

I am posting this thread early in hopes that a few folks will want to adjust their schedules! I hope to see a few Mudcatters there.

I'm already looking forward to it!
