Subject: RE: Tune Req: Anne Madam (norsk chantey) From: Feadan Date: 27 Jun 06 - 09:54 AM It is indeed the same melody as Blow the Man Down. The PDF is from the Norwegian group Storm Weather Shanty Choir. The first few measures are on the first page of the PDF file and the rest is on page two. It would be interesing to see a translation of this shanty... Cheers, Feadan |

Subject: Tune Req: Anne Madam (norsk sjanti) From: Haruo Date: 25 Jun 06 - 05:36 AM Today I ran into an Esperanto song text I'd not seen before, a translation of what was described as a Norwegian seamen's worksong from Bergen, entitled "Anne Madam". Google takes me here where I can see the first few bars of the tune (on the first page) and the Norwegian text on the second. The tune as far as it goes looks an awful lot like "Blow the man down", so I'm asking, is the tune the same, and if not how does it differ? Also, is there an English version of the text? Haruo |
