There seems to have been some sort of disagreement, dispute or other problem between the organisers (mostly the Delarre Family) and the Eels foot pub. Nobody I know (which includes quite a few people on the Suffolk folk scene) seems to know the details. Jayne and Steve Delarre were at the Step Dance event last weekend but I didn't think to ask them what really happened.

Looks like you know more about it that I do...

I should think it's quite likely that John and Katie will take care of the step dancing competition next year on a similar basis, but that's pure speculation.

As for last Year's Eels foot weekend showing promise to turn in to a mini folk festival, that may or may not happen but there are very new plans to do something else similar in Suffolk next year, to be organised by Suffolk Folk.

There wasn't much publicity for last weekend's event because there wasn't much time to organise it. Suffolk Folk managed to get leaflets out to its members mailing list at short notice. It was far too late to put anything in Mardles magazine.

Whatever happens next year, I'll make sure it gets publicised here!

Whoops, cookie was out of action.

What happened to the Eastbridge step-dance festival last weekend? I've heard that the brewers wouldn't pay for the marquee, so Katie Howson found a village hall at short notice, but was there more to it than that? The 'Eel's Foot' website made no mention of the event, and the Mudcat and Google had nothing that I could find. Now I've got to wait a whole year to miss the next one!
