Subject: Folklore: French songbook From: robinia Date: 07 Jul 06 - 05:13 AM Any suggestions on how to find Chanson Vole I -- a collection of (mostly) French traditional song, published first in l975 and then (with some revised contents) in l993 under the direction of the Departement de l'Instruction publique et des Cultes du Canton de Vaud (Switzerland)? I have the 1993 copy, happily found in a box of books that another wwoofer and I were carrying off to storage from a Brittany farmhouse, in process of conversion to chambres d'hote. With the first tenants due to arrive Monday evening (as we learned Sunday morning), it was a day of frantic activity and I was mightily tempted simply to pocket the book. But I asked to borrow it instead and am now hoping to find a replacement copy -- or better yet to find the 1975 book of the same name (published under the direction of Robert Mermoud), which apparently contains some traditional songs cut from the later book (hopefully traditional FRENCH songs rather than French translations of "Oh Suzanna" and the "Hokie-Pokie," only included in the 1993 collection, I suspect, as a gesture toward "world music"). Thanking you all in advance, robinia PS. "Wwoofers" participate in a sort of rural work exchange, under the auspices of WWOOF, which I think stands for "world-wide organization of organic farms" |
