Subject: RE: Sessions in Dingle? From: GUEST,Dáithí Date: 20 Jul 06 - 04:29 AM Michael - donegal's a big place, but I'll be at Oideas gael in a tiny place called Glencolumbkille (Gleann Colum Cille) on the coast. There are sessions in any of the 3 pubs trhere - if not in one, try the othes! they are Biddy's, Roarty's and the Glen Head Tavern (this last usually not good, but local fiddler James Byrne and family often play there). Sessions seldom start much before 10pm. Just over the hill is Carrick, where the Slieve Lague Hotel (it's a bar though) often have sessions, or go to Teelin to the Cúl an Dúin (might be renamed now - I hear new owners have taken over from the Altan crowd). Further north I'm familiar with Hudi Beag's at Gweedore and also the Clannadh family pub on the way to Donegal airport, but I can't recall the name. Hope you have a great time! Slán - Dáithí |

Subject: RE: Sessions in Dingle? From: Declan Date: 19 Jul 06 - 01:39 PM There's a pub in Ring called Mooney's I think. I've never been there but there are connections with some of the members of Danú, so I suspect its a good pub for a session. |

Subject: RE: Sessions in Dingle? From: GUEST,Dáithí Date: 19 Jul 06 - 04:28 AM Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir - thanks everyone, that's very helpful. Looks like Dingle - especially at the height of the tourist season - won't be a problem. Anybody know about Tramore ,or Ring - both in Co Waterford? D |

Subject: RE: Sessions in Dingle? From: Stewart Date: 18 Jul 06 - 11:46 AM O'Flaherty's pub is the place to go. The owner, Fergus O'Flaherty, is a good musician, plays several different instruments as well as sings, and runs a great session. I was there a couple of years ago and enjoyed playing there. Cheers, S. in Seattle |

Subject: RE: Sessions in Dingle? From: Ernest Date: 18 Jul 06 - 07:11 AM I don´t know which weekday but the "An droichead beag" (Sp? little birdge) had a nice one going on, also another pub round the corner - sorry , forgot the name. Both had well known musicians playing there (I remember Brendan Begley on the box and Tony O`Sullivan on guitar). I suggest that you ask Mazz O`Flaherty at the record shop, she will be able to give you up-to-date information. Unfortunately I don`t have information about Waterford or Donegal, but the last time I had good luck with googling for the places I was staying. Have fun Ernest |
