Sorry to hear about Jane's ill health, Strollin' best wishes to you and her, for a good and speedy return to good health.

I tried the piano at Faldingworth and although it wasn't awful, it wasn't that perfectly in tune, unfortunately. I far prefer to play a 'real' piano but most in places like that, are not that brilliant because of the changes in temperature affecting them. Fine if I am playing for a singaround type of informal bit of fun but not quite right for piano ballads.

It goes without saying Strollin' that you are missed at MRFC.

I am sure I can say that for non mudcatters of MRFRC, we will all be rooting for you and thinking best wishes for you. You just leave them nurses alone after your op, it won't help you get better :-)

Get well quickly and I hope we shall see you performing back at MRFC with Lady Jane of course, pretty soon.

I can think of some ways of not going to see Emmylou Harris, but this one takes the biscuit. :-)

Helen, thanks for the vote of confidence in Jane and me! :-)

GS is correct - we've both been going through a fairly horrible patch of ill-health. Jane's treatment is on-going and seems to be succeeding, and I'm in hospital this coming Thursday for surgery which will keep me house-bound for around six weeks.

You're right, Jane's a very talented musician and singer, it's an honour and a pleasure to work with her and I'm missing it very much. We keep in close touch and we WILL be back together as soon as our current problems are sorted.

And thanks to everyone who has wished both of us well, both on the 'Cat and otherwise - it's very much appreciated.

Now at Staithes there was a piano in the main pub and it only got played once for a few mins all time was there.

No, she is not a relation, lol! She bought her piano, which is the same as mine, after hearing and seeing mine at Market Rasen Club, I think.
She has a lovely voice. I always enjoyed hearing her but she doesn't seem to play much at MRFC now. Shame. Was nice when her and John B played together, too.
I love the piano and wish there were more 'proper' ones that were fit to be played at places. It galls me at local acoustic nights in Grimsby, that I am not allowed to take my piano as it is eeeek ...electric...even though it can sound very similar to an acoustic piano.
I'd love to wheel a baby grand into some of these nights and see the reaction of some of the people who tutted and said i shouldn't take it, :-)

Jane Kitchen used a keyboard (as piano) when coming second in the "Write a Lincolnshire Folk Song" competition last year so it just has to be a folk instrument Helen.

GS...no, sniff sniff...I never got any of the chocolate... I was gutted! :-(
We had some potato-head-low-fat-tiny-packet-wouldn't-feed-a-flea crisps and a bottle of diet coke... what a feast!

Villan, no, my accordion doesn't usually do that. I think it may have been a gremlin, elsewhere but it is always difficult to pinpoint that sort of thing. I wished I had unplugged earlier because I begin to play really cautiously and tried to stand really still in case moving about made it worse. Is the downside of having a PA, great when all is well but can be distracting when you are performing if there is a problem. I thought G & T did a good job with the sound in spite of my accordion hiccups. It is no mean feat sorting so many different acts out in one night, plus a lot of work.

It was a nice evening but perhaps the heating could be turned off, now, Villan, it was very cosy...!

Enjoyed the night, although was preoccupied at first as couldn't decide if my accordion causing the problem with the sound....(cue accordion jokes, lol!)
I consider it my duty to make sure there are not just guitar things playing all night, hee hee :-)

I love the fact that you hear lots of acts and get to know who different people are at the club. I like the variety, too.

The song is by Mike Sparks of Herga, based on The Crown pub at Hartest (which has rather more than 13 coins - of varied nature - nailed above the bar and on beams in the pub. There are, however, just 13 names on the WWI war memorial). The story was that they each nailed the coin on the bar for a drink when they returned.
