Guest: If you're around on the Wednesday either side, you'd be most welcome at Llantrisant Folk Club too. There's also Gower Folk Club on Sundays, Crane Driver and Sussex Carol, who you may well know if you like shanties, are regulars at both. Check our listings page for other stuff in the area on www.folkwales.org.uk

We are two American musicians traveling through Cornwall [playing in the Port Issac area] on the 1st and 3rd, then to Wales and would be there about the 7th of Oct. We sing traditional sea chanteys , whaling ballads and other music of the sea. Is the Falcon a closed venue or would what we do be appropriate there?

From Mike Greenwood

"ANOTHER DAY AT THE FALCON…..

Saturday, 7th October 2006

Come and join in another day of music sessions
(Welsh, English, Continental, Come-what-may)
in the convivial surroundings of
The Falcon Inn at Godreaman (nr Aberdare)

Why not bring your dancing shoes and trip the light fantastic on the wonderful riverside patio?

Continuous musical activities from 2pm through 'til late

Lots of real ales and continental speciality beers on draught

Food and overnight accommodation
available

DIRECTIONS
Take A470 north from M4 Jcn 32 (N Cardiff) or south from A465 Heads of Valleys Road; at Abercynon roundabout, take A4059 towards Aberdare
Straight on at Mountain Ash traffic signals, then left at Cwmbach roundabout (still following Aberdare signs)
Left at roundabout by Asda; right at T-junction, then sharp left at 1st sign for Cwmaman (Community Activities Centre)
After 350 yds, take left turn marked "No through road". Follow road to bottom of hill, then around to right, and keep going; the road becomes a narrow track, following the River Aman, ending at The Falcon (Don't give up!)"

I'll give contact details for Mike or the Falcon if you PM me.

All the best

Splott man
