I see from his website http://www.leroyvandyke.com/ that he's offering a Silvertone guitar for sale. He used it to compose "The Auctioneer" and it cost some $34 from Sears Roebuck in 1953. The asking price is $150,000!
Now I have a late 50s Eko 12-string (well, 11-string really if you take the broken tuning peg into account)
I used it to play in front of the Prince of Wales and the next pub down the street till I was moved on by the police.
Any offers?

Eddie

Actually, Jerry Van Dyke is Dick Van Dyke's brother. Remember "Mule Train" with a toy horse and a wet noodle? Talk about art...

Who wouldn't listen to his ma

song actually about a boy in Missouri

Best known perhaps for his singing of - Walk On By

I preferred the Dionne Warwick version...

...I'll get me coat.

If he were accompanied by canned spinach would he be Popeye Van Dyke?

I loved his "The Auctioneer". It stands along side " I've been everywhere, man" , as a great "tongue twister" of a song.
