Sorry Dave, I missed the point of your email. I can't speak for other Internet broadcasters, but Worlds of Trad is hosted by Live365, and royalties are paid through their accounting department as with any other legitimate broadcasting medium.

Full details can be found at http://www.live365.com/index.live

I suspect it won't really matter whether he gets a few more royalties or not.

But it might matter to those whose music is being played on world radio.

I listen to this radio station whilst I work at the computer which plays a lot of British folk music, But I have always wondered how they paid royalties?

Can anyone help?

I don't know how Sir Cliff (I'll get by) Richard got into this thread. However, he can rest assured that he'll never be owed any royalties by me.

Thanks for that Harry - or shall I call you Cliff? :-)

I have another question. How are royalties paid for these broadcasts?

Live365 has no download facilities, but it's perfectly feasible to record radio programmes from the computer using a suitable software package. I preserve loads of programmes that way and, if you're living in Britain, it will shortly become legal; once the Gowers copyright review proposals become law in fact.

Can we download these tunes and songs from the web?

Sorry about that folks. The above message was me as always. Mudcat somehow unlogged me while I was writing it.

Hi Folks,

The December edition of my Worlds of Trad Internet radio station is now uploaded and as always features the very best in traditional folk, ethnic, world, roots, blues, old time country, early jazz; in fact traditional music from absolutely everywhere.

This month there's quite a few carols and other seasonal items, which I hope you'll enjoy.

To listen to the programme, go to http://www.live365.com/stations/oneworldmusic , then click on the yellow speaker button.

The next upload will be Wednesday January 10th 2007. If you'd like to be reminded direct, email me on Fredlive365@aol.com with the words ADD ME in the subject line

Best wishes,

Fred McCormick
