The American version is "Columbia, the *gem* of the ocean". The rest of the words are likewise very similar. Clearly a direct & shameless steal.

IIRC from my school days:

Columbia, the gem of the ocean,
The home of the brave and the free,
The shrine of each patriot's devotion --
A world offers homage to thee.
Thy mandates make heroes assemble
While liberty's form stands in view.
Thy banners make tyranny tremble.
Three cheers for the red, white, and blue!

I'm trying to find the tune for a song called 'Red White and Blue', which travelled to America and and also became 'Columbia, Pride of the Ocean'.

The British version goes:

Britannia, the pride of the ocean,
The home of the brave and the free,
The shrine of the patriot's devotion,
No land can compare unto thee;
Thy mandates make heroes assemble
With garlands of glory in view;
Thy banners make tyranny tremble
When borne by the Red, White and Blue.
   Three cheers for the Red, White and Blue,
   Three cheers for the Red, White and Blue,
   Three cheers for the Army and Navy,
   Three cheers for the Red, White and Blue.

If anyone knows where I can find the dots or an MP3 - I really don't understand the other systems, I'm afraid - I'd be most grateful.
