the first batch in april 7th 43 (7703H) were also made with a mahogany top. or at least mine was.

LG-1: April 1943 to 1974, spruce top, ladder braced, sunburst. (From a Gibson site.)

1942-1947: Factory Order Numbers with 3 or 4 digits, followed by a hyphen, followed by 1 or 2 more digits, ink stamped on neck block (flattops) or on the inside back

Nice to see so many other people love these old Gibo's like I do.
I got a LG1 last year. i'd love to pinpoint the year it was made cos i'm a bit unclear.
There is no label on the inside and the serial stamped on the kneck block inside the guitar reads ' 4368 27 '. The back of the headstock reads 'Made in the USA' and the side on profile of the headstock tapers off from thick to thin. I think it's a late 40's one but not too sure. The Gibson site doesn't seem to clear up my question! Please help! Any links to a decent site would be really apreciated.
I love it this guitar.
