Gene, I inadvertently opened a thread on a similar subject and I do have some comments. Re your two requests:

(1) No experience, but at the price tag asked it would have to be very good. I have since found some shareware at ZDNET. At a friend's suggestion the key search word is "vinyl" and there looks to a range of quality and price.

(2) Re the chord finder software - I tried the earlier version of this program about 2 years ago, but not very extensively. Of concern to me was that it failed to recognise the audio output of the rhythm track of a Midi file, to the level of satisfaction that I was seeking. I reckon the computer's ear SHOULD be better than mine, but to date I am not convinced. It you would like a copy of the earlier software drop me a line at johninbrisbane@hotbot.com I see they no longer provide a demo product, and I couldn't see the old one still being touted.

Regards
John

there used to be a piece of hardware specifically designed for that...saw it at Audio shows a number of years ago...sampled input in milliseconds and eliminated most clicks & pops...if I ever find one, I'm going to rectify my omission and get it!..I have 500 vinyl albums and about 30 CDs

Any MUDCATTERS have any first hand knowledge
or experience with a program called DART
[Digital Audio Restoration Technology]
Converts MIDIs to .WAVs and also allows for
playing a 78 RPM record at 33 RPM
[if you do not have a 78 RPM player] and
automatically plays back at correct speed
also supposed to remove/clean up noises...

FREE [limited use] DOWNLOAD available:

http://www.dartpro.com

And a program that claims to be able to produce chords from an audio wave of a song...DEMO version available at:

http://www.dubbeldam.com/
