I have attended every weekend since they began and have enjoyed it immensly. Well worth the trip, especially if you are near Milwaukee. I travel from Cleveland, usually cheap flights on SOuthwest to Chicago and a train ride, this year Megabus for almost nothing all the way to Milwaukee. This year there's dance for the first time (officially, anyway!)

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Center for Celtic Studies
is pleased to present Sean-Nós Milwaukee 2007 on
Friday, February 16th and Saturday, February 17th, 2007.

Please join us for an exciting weekend celebration of old style 'sean-nós' singing and dancing. Drawn from one of the oldest lyrical song traditions of Europe, the Irish language-based, highly stylized singing form of Ireland will be featured along side dynamic and interpretive rhythmic sean-nós dancing. Éilís Ní Shúilleabháin and Síle Uí Chróinín from Cúil Aodha, Co. Cork, Ireland will be one of our featured guest singers sharing the stage with guest dancers Ronan Regan from Co. Galway, Ireland and Maldon Meehan from Portland, Oregon. Together with North American proponents of these traditions including Virginia Stevens Blankenhorn from Detroit, Michigan and our keynote speaker Sean Williams from Evergreen State College in Washington, they will present a glorious mid-winter gathering in Milwaukee. It will be a unique weekend of sharing songs and steps with workshops, sessions, archival recordings and brilliant public performances!

This exciting event will begin with a main public performance at the Peck School of the Arts Recital Hall located on the campus of UW-Milwaukee near Downer Avenue and Kenwood Boulevard at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 16th and will be followed by an oíche airneán or nighttime gathering at the Knickerbock Hotel located at 1028 E. Juneau Avenue.

Saturday's events will include a keynote address and daylong singing and dancing workshops with our guest performers at the Hefter Conference Center at 3271 N. Lake Drive. A lunchtime performance at the Pabst Theater at 144 E. Wells Street and an evening dinner followed by a session at the County Clare Pub located at 1234 N. Astor Street will also afford participants the chance to interact with this vibrant singing and dancing community. All are welcome!
