Subject: RE: Real kick-ass blues? From: Tweed Date: 07 Mar 07 - 07:39 PM I ain't sayin' a word about any of this nor having my name on both Shatner's and Seagal's hit lists. Been nice knowin' ya DooWah. ...snapped like twigs and then vaporized...terrible,...terrible. He really did songs over there called "She Dat Pretty" and "Talk to my Ass"? |

Subject: RE: Real kick-ass blues? From: dwditty Date: 07 Mar 07 - 04:20 PM OK, at the risk of getting MY ass kicked.....I managed to make it through half of one 30 second sound clip from his Mojo Priest CD. He sounds to me like he is acting the part of a blues singer, and based on his other thespian attempts, you can imagine the results. As if that is not bad enough, song titles like "Gunfire in a Juke Joint," or "She Dat Pretty," or (my favorite)"Talk to My Ass." only complete the picture for this cd to replace the William Shatner's entry to the world of music. Listen for yourself HERE. dw |

Subject: RE: Real kick-ass blues? From: Murray MacLeod Date: 07 Mar 07 - 07:13 AM ..."he seems to be a good guy. Never met him of course but he does seem to follow his convictions. Anyone with some of the achievements he has had in the various fields he has succeeded in deserves a lot of respect." ... Just to show you the other side of the coin, I knew a girl in the States who worked in the movie business, and who had worked with Seagal. She rated him a Grade one asshole. The one anecdote that sticks in my mind concerned Seagal throwing a monumental tantrum because his name had been spelt " Segal " on some inconsequential piece of paper. He demanded, successfully, that the secretary responsible be fired. I certainly won't be going to any of his over-priced "blues" concerts. |

Subject: RE: Real kick-ass blues? From: Dave the Gnome Date: 07 Mar 07 - 06:30 AM Funnily enough, Tweed, I like that one better! Maybe my definition of 'bluesy' is slightly corrupted by my long association with English fold music and dance;-) Cheers Dave PS - I love the soundtrack from "Oh Brother..." Is that Blues, American folk or a bit of both? |

Subject: RE: Real kick-ass blues? From: Tweed Date: 07 Mar 07 - 06:22 AM Steven Seagal is too bluesy Dave? Try this one on for size. Junior Kimbrough's version of "Release Me" (Jukejoint style) might be more to your liking. |

Subject: RE: Real kick-ass blues? From: Dave the Gnome Date: 07 Mar 07 - 05:27 AM Thanks, Bob. I liked the last song on the list shown. It was from The Songs from a Crystal Cave album. Had the new tour have been with that Album I may well have forked out but it is a Mojo Priest tour and I'm afraid the songs I heard from that were far to 'bluesy' for me. I did learn a lot about Steven Seagal (Apologies to Mr S for spelling his name wrong earlier!) and he seems to be a good guy. Never met him of course but he does seem to follow his convictions. Anyone with some of the achievements he has had in the various fields he has succeeded in deserves a lot of respect. Cheers Dave |

It's www.myspace.com/stevenseagalbluesband. Hey, anybody notice I spelled it Stephen in the last post? Must have been thinkin' about my ole bud Stephen Barry out here in Montreal. Subject: RE: Real kick-ass blues? From: GUEST,Bob Ryszkiewicz Date: 06 Mar 07 - 05:58 PM Guys: NEVER applaude before you see the show. The last time that happened, George Bush got elected. Stephen takes the blues real serious and you can see and hear it for yourselves by visiting his site on myspace. He has surrounded himself with some killer players. Oh, and he probably won't be needing any security. bob |

Subject: RE: Real kick-ass blues? From: Tweed Date: 06 Mar 07 - 05:40 PM I've come to figure that Blues mind/body disciplines and Far Eastern mind/body disciplines are not too far distant cousins. He's got the Eastern thing down pretty good and mebbe is attracted to blues music for whatever reason he learned the other. It's a flow kinda thing. Tweed |
