Subject: Trad dance callers list From: Mo the caller Date: 17 Dec 07 - 11:09 AM Ridge Kennedy asked us to pass this on, so I am. Dear All, Today marks the 10th anniversary of the existence of this list. It originated as the trad-sd list on the servers of Youngstown State University with assistance from Doug Sewell. It evolved to it's current site and name a few (4-5?) years ago. It currently has about 300 members. List moderators are Eva Murray and myself, though I will say that the list is very much self-regulating -- there is a culture of inquiry, interest and encouragement that has evolved that is quite heartening. There are still lots of people in the traditional dance world who have not heard of our list, so if you can think of a friend, an associate, a new caller, an inquisitive musician, a beleaguered organizer or just a friendly dancer who'd like to know more about what goes on "behind the scenes" so to speak -- please tell them about trad-dance-callers. More information -- including thoughts from subscribers about the value or the list and "how to" subscribe info -- is available at this link Do please share. Sincerely, Ridge It's an interesting group for callers discussing hogh powered contra and square stuff, and also one night stands for people who don't know left from right. So worth joining if you call (or dance) |
