The 19th. of March will be the 43rd. birthday of Bedford Folk Club, originally called the Clangers club in honour of the local delicacy the Bedfordshire Clanger. The club was founded by Hugh & Nancy Aldous along with John Kelly and was originally held at the Horse & Groom in Queens Park. Nowadays it's run by Mike Blair on Wednesdays at Daley's Club, 83A Bedford Road, Kempston. Amongst those booked in the original club were Sydney Carter, Dominic Behan, Doc Watson, Tom Paxton, Red Sullivan, Stan Kelly and the last act to play at that version of the club was Magic Lantern. Happy days: it's just a shame that I can remember so little about them!
