Subject: Hiraezh: Traditional Songs from Brittany From: bradhurley Date: 05 May 22 - 06:34 AM My partner Claire Boucher, a traditional singer from southwestern Brittany now living in Montréal, has released a new album called Hiraezh (the closest translation in English is "nostalgia," but with a strong tinge of wistfulness and longing). Ten songs on the theme of love in all its dimensions: happy, sad, joyful, tragic. Eight are in Breton (a Celtic language very closely related to Welsh); the other two are in French. This was our pandemic project, recorded in our living room in 2021 and early 2022, just the two of us. Claire was joined on one song by the brilliant Québecois singer Lysandre Chartrand. The album is available online now at Bandcamp at the link below; a physical CD and a PDF booklet with lyrics and synopses are in the works and should be ready in June. https://claireboucher.bandcamp.com/album/hiraezh |
